Another weekend, and another great motorsport event.
This past weekend’s event was Round 3 of the South Australian Rally Sprint Series held at SDCC’s Mid Murray Motorsport complex.
McMRallysports Mazda 2 came home 1st in Class and 4th outright.
The event threw up a number of different courses, conditions and events. Sand, rocks, jumps, fires, rollovers, bogging’s and vehicle failures. A range of vehicles from 4WD WRX’s to off road buggies and a V8 Celica fronted for the day….
The day started well with the first 2 of 8 runs going off without a hitch. From run 3, cars began falling off the grid.
Engine Fires – one on stage and one in the service area. A roll for a very nice RS1800 Escort and a number of mechanical wheel / strut failures. The parts bin in the MCM service vehicle was well used by a number of competitors to help them get back out and circulating.
The 2 held up well, loosing by a few seconds per stage to the 3rd placed WRX. The Dmack tyres provided by SA Motorsport Tyres worked exceptionally well as did the MCA Suspension.
Driver and co-driver point scores are still being collated but we think we are leading the SARSS in both fields. We wait to see.
Round 4 will be run in Mount Gambier later in the year. Accommodation being looked into at the moment.
If you know of a trailer friendly hotel / van park in Mt Gambier, let us know. There will be a number of Adelaide teams heading down for the weekend.
As always thanks to Fiona sitting in the co-drivers seat. Could not do it without you.
